BIOGRAPHY

Scottish Soprano Nikki Martin is in her final year at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Lorna Anderson. Nikki is the proud recipient of a scholarship from the RCS.

Nikki graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2021, where she won the prestigious Alexander Young competition as well as being a member of the RNCM Songsters. Here she had the privilege of performing within RNCM’s opera productions, with roles including; Hen (The Cunning Little Vixen), Adina (L’elisir d’amore)*, Angelica (Orlando)*, Clarina (La Cambiale di Matrimonio)*, Nun (Suor Angelica). She has also covered the role of ‘Sprite’ in the production of Massenet’s ’Cendrillon’.

Concert performances form a huge part of Nikki’s repertoire, where she has been the soprano soloist in Schubert’s ‘Mass in C’, Haydn’s ‘Nelson Mass’ and Mozart’s ‘Coronation Mass’. More recently, she performed at the Stoller Hall in Manchester as the Soprano Soloist in Ralph Vaughan Williams' 'Serenade to Music'. Nikki was then asked to return and perform a live streamed concert with the Camerata Strumentale Italiana, again at the Stoller Hall.

Nikki has toured with the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, performing all over the United Kingdom. As well as performing in four different Gilbert and Sullivan productions, she was also asked to perform in their post-performance cabarets. This incredible opportunity helped Nikki to meet new people, explore new places and perform new music.

In 2021, Nikki performed her debut title role with Buxton International Festival as Cendrillon in Cendrillon by Pauline Viardot. In February 2023, Nikki had the privilege of reprising the role, touring all over the UK.

Nikki is very much looking forward to performing the roles of Monica (The Medium) and Cendrillon (Cendrillon), in RCS’s upcoming opera productions.
